ThreatMetrix Partners with ActivIdentity to Add Device Identification Capabilities to Their 4TRESS™ Authentication Appliance
ThreatMetrix Fraud Network Enables ActivIdentity Customers to Validate Returning Customers Without the Use of Physical Credentials
LOS ALTOS & FREMONT, CA. – February 9, 2011 – ThreatMetrix™, the fastest growing cloud-based provider of fraud prevention solutions that do not require personally identifiable information (PII), today announced a partnership with ActivIdentity™ Corporation, a global leader in secure identity. Through the partnership, ThreatMetrix will enable ActivIdentity 4TRESS™ Authentication Appliance customers to connect to the ThreatMetrix Fraud Network to support secure authentication without the use of physical credentials such as smart cards or tokens.
“We’re excited to provide our banking, government and enterprise customers with another authentication factor that doesn’t require a physical credential,” said Julian Lovelock, senior director of product marketing, ActivIdentity. “As the number of available devices people can use as a gateway to services grows, notably with the mobile channel, it’s paramount to provide a centralized, consistent identification infrastructure that identifies these different devices. The enhanced solution represents a great benefit to our customers by providing another layer in their defenses and enabling them to take advantage of the extensive device intelligence gathered by the ThreatMetrix Fraud Network.”
ActivIdentity will be offering the capabilities as a complement to its flagship authentication server, for organizations that seek to implement a cost-effective, flexible, and scalable solution. The 4TRESS™ Authentication Server offers support for many authentication methods (e.g., user name and password, knowledge-based authentication, one-time password, and public key infrastructure [PKI] certificates) and diverse user groups across a variety of service channels, making it the preferred versatile authentication platform for customer-facing transactions.
“ThreatMetrix is pleased to partner with ActivIdentity to further complement and strengthen their 4TRESS™ Authentication platform solutions by providing an additional factor of authentication via device identification,” said Lance Jacobs, vice president of sales, ThreatMetrix. “The ThreatMetrix Fraud Network will provide ActivIdentity customers with fact-based and behavioral information in real-time that validates returning visitors, while also blocking unauthorized access to information.”
About the ThreatMetrix Fraud Network
The ThreatMetrix Fraud Network is based on third-generation device identification and transaction behavior tracking technology that drives three customer solutions: new account origination, payments and logins. Using ThreatMetrix device identification, coupled with an advanced rules engine, machine learning, and fuzzy matching technology, ThreatMetrix customers like ActivIdentity are able to detect returning visitors based on the attributes of the device – be it a smartphone, personal or tablet computer – without the use of cookies or cookie equivalents such as local stored objects (LSO). The Fraud Network can also detect spoofed devices and IP addresses, and sniff out botnets.
